Day 21 Wind, Rain and Cold!

The weather has been cold in the mornings ( in the 30's) but today it started raining and the WIND and the cold have been wicked. We had a head wind all day that made walking that much more difficult. So, cold and wet we made it 26k to the small village of Villavante and called it a day. This is a small family run albergue with a parrot named Coco who is learning to talk (in Spanish of course!) Just 12 pilgrims but nice and cozy and we have our own room so no snoring! The spring weather is unusually cold- hope the sun returns as we are heading into the mountains in the next few days and the highest climb of the trip.
Some of the mud sticks to your boots- in two steps you are 2 inches taller- it is hard to get off- you can't walk in it- you have to go off the trail- we had heard about it but finally experienced it today
Unusual modern bell tower in small town today
All mosaic welcome perigrino sign
Coco the talking parrot
On nearly every church bell tower huge storks have nested- many have large babies looking out- the nests are huge and some have several nests

  1. Brad & Lynda, please forgive me not commenting everyday. We have been a little busy the few days. First, I enjoyed every picture you have posted Lynda and the information about each picture. It makes me so thankful I am not out there in the cold weather with you all. We are praying for your successful trip and one that you would return to do it again feelings. However, we do miss you both because we know there's not truck and camper coming over to see us. Mary and Steve purchased their camper and eventually will come over here soon. Please be safe and but enjoy this wonderful opportunity you both have ventured out to do. Love you both Mom & Dad
